In the small English village of Three Bridges there are whispers circulating about a skeleton that has recently been found in the nearby forest called Devil's Wood. The locals seem to think it belongs to a woman that went missing ten years prior. Accusations have already started to be directed at certain individuals. Detective Drunford, Detective Mennet and PC Sanders are sent in to investigate who this mystery skeleton was. As they take in the calming surroundings, a nice change of pace to the city life they are familiar with, they start to understand the deep relationships the villagers have with each other. Soon though a new body is discovered and the detectives realise that a killer is hiding in plain sight, not ready to let the past stay buried.
