1976 Random House HB.,9th printing. Memoir of Nancy Dickerson, trail breaker, working mother and first female national news correspondent. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Nancy Dickerson's son recently published a biography of her. As a rule I prefer autobiographies becuase I like to see what a person has to say for themselves. Among Those Present is entertaining and illuminating. Nancy Dickerson was pioneer but she wasn't stuffy about it and seemed to really enjoy her career and life off the camera. Her portraits of Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson ( a very complicated and surpsingly sensitive man), Nixon (who must have been crazy) and Ford are fascinating and her descriptions of life in Washington were great. When she talks about her personal life she was frank without telling too much and I appreciated that. It's a meaty book and I'm glad I found it. This is just about perfect.
