Loose ends

I purchased/read the first Circle Letter book and the second one (this one) This book is a continuation of the first.There was really only 1 story line in which I cared about the characters and what would happen to them. I honestly could have read a novel based off just the 1 character (Mary Ruth) The author is a good one, one of my favorites but at the end of this 2nd book there are so many loose ends it definately seemed like there was going to be a 3rd Circle book, but given that this was published in 2014, seems plans went by the wayside. I cannot imagine ending it like this with no intent on a continuation. Very disappointing
