Amirtham is the first novel of Thi. Janakiraman, a pioneer celebrated for taking the literary form to new heights. It was published in 'Giraama Oozhiyan' magazine as a series in 1944, and was published as a book for the first time in 1948. The novel announces the arrival of a great writer, and bears resemblance to some of his great works that followed. The language of this novel may have aged, but the context remains relevant.
