A unique and valuable book on government in America

This is a very professional but not widely read book on government on America. It shows how repeated ill-conceived budget cuts have severely damaged America. How many people know that EPA's budget has been cut 50% in constant dollars since 1980. The point is that endless cuts in government are a dangerous trend that is leading to a "hollow" government in key areas vital to the public interest. If you are skeptical about this, read the book. The rise in interest costs plus defense spending plus entitlement spending plus tax cuts have produced huge long term cuts in many areas of government that do not have political constituencies to defend them in an adequate manner.

facinating! Cannot wait for his second book.

It was refreshing to read an entertaining yet informative outline of our Nation's Capital. Goldstein has a timely outlook on today's political issues. A must read for all students of government and poltics and those interested in furthering change.
