What if American evangelicals really took human sinfulness, to include their own, seriously? What are the implications for attempts to create a "Christian" nation, "Christian" political and economic structures, and even a "Christian" family? Starting with a classical understanding of human sinfulness and examining the historical evolution of social, political and economic thought, Dr. Lamborn asserts that it is impossible for sinners, redeemed or otherwise, to create social structures that are inherently godly or that merit divine approbation. Any attempt to make sacred or institutionalize as Christian a given political, economic or social structure creates earthly idols that invariably subvert the divine mandate that professors of the faith become slaves of Christ and instead enslaves God as the underwriter and guarantor of the success of these idols. Christianity then becomes, at the functional level, a pagan religion that blinds adherents to the logs in their own eyes.
