Wow, excellent read. The author goes on a subject by subject dissection of the madness that is pro sports.Everything from Religion to Race to the Cult of The Swoosh is covered. American Fan really got me thinking. What kind of person am I that i put so much time, money, and energy on the abilities of a bunch of spoiled millionaires. The sports themseleves are fine, i think football is a blast to watch, its' what's done with them that bothered me. As a sports radio commentator once said(they are skewered in the book also)If all the owners disappeared one day, big deal get new owners, likewise no more players fine, get new players, get rid of all the fans...oops no more sports..and guess who gets screwed all the time , the fans. Well not me, no more. There's better things to do with the 50 or so years(i hope)I have left on earth. Thank you Mr. Perrin for putting into print what i've felt for a long time.
