American Bayou is set in the deep south, and it has three main characters. All three are caught in their past and cannot escape their future. Through tragedy, two of the characters will break free of their past and future to dwell within the present. All pain, success, and failure is forgotten as two of the characters choose to exist day-by-day - void of memory.In order to escape their past and future, they will need to break free of their roots, a harsh land, and their own preconceptions about religion and culture. They will also need to navigate past possible involvement in a murder of a successful politician. As the story builds, both characters involvement in the murder is unknown until the very end. Suspense and mystery develops as the reader moves through a cast of narcissists, politicians, and debutantes. This ecosystem is one you will never forget, and it will make you think about your ecosystem.
