Well, at last!

Truly good anthologies are rare, mostly because they require hard work and good taste, in harmony, and that's rarer than it sounds. A lot of them are sloppy, biased, short-sighted -- we all have had the experience of initial excitement and subsequent growing disappointment. Well, this one is an exception. It just keeps growing on you. The quality of the introductions is dazzling. The selections are unusually large and they show each poet at his or her best. Quality is the only criterion here. Not multiculturalism, not schools, not who knows whom or who has scratched whose back. Just quality. What a delight and what a relief!
