I didn't think I would enjoy this book till I got into it and couldn't stop. The author (or narrator) tells a poignant story of growing up in America during the early part of the Century in such an interesting and unique way, that it almost made laugh and cry at the same time.I hope he writes the sequel soon.

Great book- brought back many fond memeries

Sentimental Journey to the Past

Having grown up in the Bronx, NY during the great depression, seeing my older brothers go off to war, I found this book taking me back to my childhood. Though the author was a generation slightly ahead of mine, the experiences of his family could easily mirror those of my own. The auther has absolutely captured the essence of the times in a charming history of a Jewish family from Poland and its Americanization. The goals and aspirations of the idealist father that were never realized by him, which were brought to successful fruition by the son, is an inspirational story to be appreciated by any reader. Once started it's hard to put down.

This is the kind of novel that is felt in the heart..thought about way after reading and leaves a permenent impression. This book will give anyone hope, as the main character struggles against all odds, to become a success. It demonstrates experiences of the human spirit in the most diffucult of times and celebrates victorys that left impressions on the author and forms his many opinions. This is a true story of perserverence, A beleif in GOD and traditions that made this story believable and inspiring. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a real American hero to celebrate and aspire to. E.M. Nolbay's father would be very proud of his first born. "A true heartfelt read", and a treasured legacy to the authors family.
