Hoki Museum
Opened in November 2010 in Midori Ward, Chiba City, the Hoki Museum is one of the world's few museums dedicated exclusively to realist painting. Its collection comprises approximately 480 works by around 60 artists, including masters such as Hiroshi Noda and Sosuke Morimoto, with around 120 works displayed at any given time. A highlight of the collection is the "My Masterpiece" series, in which selected artists create large-scale works (100号 or larger) every three years. The museum building, located adjacent to the lush Showa no Mori park, features five gently curved gallery corridors stacked across three levels (two underground and one above ground), with the outermost section extending 30 meters in a dramatic cantilevered structure. The building received the Japan Architecture Award in 2011.
