In this age of Kakuro, Saduko, Ken Ken and so on it is nice to see something as straightforward as this book. There are many number puzzles utilizing the four operations and mixing in percentages and fractions as well. Each puzzle has a beginner, intermediate and advanced version so really you're getting three times the amount of puzzles that are advertised. If you blow up the image of the cover you'll see a sample puzzle at the bottom of the cover. That gives you a good idea of what the book is like. I haven't been using pencil and paper. I find it more gratifying to do it all mentally. Whatever floats your boat, as long as you don't use calculators. This book is a great way to kill time while waiting for appointments or just to relax with a cup of coffee. If you feel like brushing up on your math skills or just want a fun challenge, this book is perfect. Highly recommended, especially for the price.
