I watched this movie several times in the past and could not pass up the opportunity to see if Blu-ray would contribute much.
This is a unique approach to the life and contributions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is told through the filter of an acquaintance, Antonio Salieri (F. Murray Abraham), who struggles with God. Also, we see the movie, of course, may miss some of the plays, but being a movie, we have replaced them with visions of Prague, where the movie was filmed.
The only thing that can be somewhat annoying to some people is the laughing style they gave Mozart (Tom Hulce) in this production.
Be sure to watch the extra information where the different actors and the director discuss the trials and tribulations of getting a film crew into Prague in 1984 and dealing with the secret police.

Interesting perspective...

Alot of "theatrical license" with a little nonfiction intertwined. I love Mozart's music ofcourse, who doesn't? And he was a musical savant! This movie did give me a curiosity to research Mozart's life so I ordered a biographical book on composers. It also gives an interesting take on the mystery of Mozart's early death & a kind of "who dunnit" re: Salieri vs illness. It is also a sad story but Mozart's brilliance as a composer is beyond compare.
