Am I the Monster? is a series of poems that beg the underlying question: am I a product of circumstance? Here, we dive into wether or not a person deserves what they've been handed. A chronically ill daughter of a chronically ill mother asks herself, or God, if this is the consequence of some unknown wrong, or if her rumination is just a product of sickness. As she works through memories from before, as far back as childhood, she comes to terms with now, fresh into her twenties and mostly bedridden. This ultimately leads to a tipping point, a larger response to forced inaction--how do I survive now that I know the truth?
