When 17 year-old Air Force brat, honors student, and track athlete, Tatiana, has to relocate during her senior year of high school due to her mamma's transfer to another base, she is devastated by having to leave yet another city and best friend behind. Fortunately, Tatiana quickly finds her tribe at Lincoln High. They are a diverse group of outcasts in a sea of superficial cliques: Finn, a self-proclaimed "Proud Queer" is the first to befriend Tatiana, quickly followed by the inseparable Kelsey and Samuel, the androgynous lovebirds who teach Tatiana American Sign Language, so she can better communicate with Samuel, who is Deaf. Of all the new people she meets, the person who stands out the most for Tatiana is her athletic emerald-eyed neighbor, James, and their budding friendship shifts from studious lab partners to early morning running partners and confidants in no time. When Tatiana finds herself in a truly awkward and embarrassing situation at school, James comes to her rescue and a romantic spark between them ignites. Unfortunately, because of James' jealous girlfriend, his insensitive teammates, and an ill-timed reminder of Tatiana's past in Washington D.C., the pressure on their friendship is heavy. When James' complex family drama spills into Tatiana's homelife, she starts to question whether she can handle it all. With the unconditional love, support, and guidance of her two mothers and close friends, Tatiana is given the healthy tools she needs to navigate these complex relationships as she realizes what it really takes to be someone's "Always".
