The story can be seen with two lenses. The first one chronicles the lives of several characters from their youth to adulthood and focuses on the romantic relationships between the characters. Through the second lens, the process of falling in love can be observed. Each character evolves in their unique way as they embark on this undoubtedly human experience. It suggests that the behaviors of someone falling in love are similar to the artistic process; the authentic, faithful devotion in the early stages of love can create a masterpiece just as the dedicated painter will as he is committing himself to new work. Within the text is an array of love, infatuation, and self-giving; all this is with the constant companionship of art and the fantastic artists of our time.
