"The light in the utility room peeked around the door as it swung open. I could see the closet; I could see you sleeping. I heard a commotion and saw a bunch of these black things come out of the 'hole, ' and there must have been a dozen of them. They were like little monkeys, but their legs and arms were long, way too long; they almost looked like a super-sized daddy-long-legs and a monkey combined. Their faces were black and blank, no eyes, no nose, no mouth - nothing. Some of them walked around and disappeared behind me. Several jumped on the bed and sat on top of us. They stroked our faces with their long fingers; they rubbed our heads; they reached under the covers and touched us. I tried to yell. God, I wanted to scream. They made no sound, only the song echoed from the 'hole, ' but sometimes it boomed around the whole room. Then I heard a cackling laugh, I can't describe it, but it was horrible and nasty. I tried to move, to yell, to kick you awake. And then I stopped struggling. The laugh continued, and I started laughing inside my head. I wanted to laugh out loud, to be a part of those monsters - I was being absorbed into their nothingness - lost. Then suddenly I was able to move, to kick."
