The thinking man's book of knots

The 'theory of knots' places knots in a logical context so lucid that instead of using one routine method of making a bowline, atleast four alternatives are easily executed! Why is this important? When thrown a line while boating sometimes you have it in the right hand and sometimes in the left, sometimes the tension is in front sometimes below, etc. Knowing the logic and you get the right knot everytime.

Inivative approach to knotting - with a wealth of background

This is a truely superb knot book, that re-writes the rules, with the theory to back it up. The diagrams are clear and consise, and Dr Ashers way of explaining the reasoning behind the use of a given knot is simply enchanting to read. The only problem - getting hold of a copy of the book !!!
