Alter or Perish: If you do not alter your business model, you will perish.

In a world that is changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks. - Mark Zuckerberg It is quite naive and simplistic to operate from a view point called things will continue to be the way they are and we can maintain a status quo. No you cannot. However, emotive you may feel about it, business is bound to alter in a dynamic marketplace fuelled by technology and the human desire for novelty. The only thing consistent in business is change. And the only thing you gotta keep on doing over and over again is to keep altering the design of your business model. Reinventing oneself is the natures way. That is how god meant the world to be. For those who are born, death is certain. And for those who are dead birth is certain. So do not grieve what thou cannot change. Lord Krishna, Bhagwad Gita. Krishna also says however, that your actions or Purushartha can change the Prarabdha or destiny. As change is permanent so is the opportunity to change and alter to stay relevant. It is a constant battle between man's fundamental tendency to remain in a state of inertia and man's profound love for the new and variety. C'est La Vie. Such is life. Contradictions. A paradox is what man is ultimately. My work experience of over 17 Years in the express and logistics industry and interactions with the finest minds in corporate India gives me a unique perspective. I call this perspective the 'eyes of an outsider.' Looking at one industry from the eyes of another. Looking at the fashion or garment industry from the perspective of the Express Courier industry. My accidental entry gave me this extraordinary opportunity and I have the blessing to share this with the world. As we look at the glaring failures of the past centuries, the failures to alter the business model are very clear and evident. There are lessons to learn and mistakes to avoid from our friends bygone. Also there is success to be celebrated of those who dared to alter and reinvent their businesses. And then there is Steve Jobs who says, I want to put a ding in the universe. There is always a believer who perceives and wins.When you use cross referencing of industries and adopt the eyes of an outsider approach you can redesign your operational framework. Its like breaking apart your store and redoing the interiors and signage all over again. People will look at the newly designed space with awe and overwhelming sense of excitement. Customer attention is necessary to close a sale and change is a great way of doing it. The future is bright. It is designed newly by asking relevant questions. It is invented by committing yourself and your people and the core ethos of your business to the greater good of humanity. Bill Gates didn't just make a personal computer available for every household; he also ended up being the richest man in the world for a long long time. When you fulfill what is of interest and importance to people you lock your own individual victory in the process. Zig Ziglar said, You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want. A visual or pictorial composition of your game plan is like having a vision board in front of your eyes all the time. You can call it a mind map or whatever, the point being you can see your game and what you are up-to all the time. Again, being an owner of the business your baby often needs a teacher or a doctor or an instructor. Love and care is needed but a lot of pampering can spoil the child. Having someone to look at your business model impartially without any emotional load is immensely beneficial. You can always invite me over to support you with the reinvention of your business.
