Altamara's Gift

Altamara's Gift
By John Gregg

In Vietnam, surviving the enemy was only half the battle. Surviving what the war did to you was the other half.

In the brutal Central Highlands of South Vietnam, Sergeant Lefty Altamara and medic Doc Hood fight to keep themselves, and Delta Double-Deuce, alive.

Between endless patrols, sudden ambushes, mail calls, and the relentless countdown to going home, the young men of Recon forge a brotherhood that may be their best defense against a war slowly grinding away at their souls. Love gives them something to hold on to. Humor keeps them sane.

Raw, moving, and darkly funny, Altamara's Gift is a story of imperfect young men trapped in a senseless war, and of the bonds that shaped a generation long after the fighting ended.

"So much more than a Vietnam War novel," Timothy Bagwell.
