By leaving Brad to be raised by nannies, they are keeping him safe and preventing him being used as a tool to control them. As nannies often do, they come and go for various reasons. Each time he grows to love someone, they leave him. Although his parents shower him with money, love remains foreign to him. Being raised with-out love, parental guidance, or religious teachings, he is left confused by life. It is up to Brad to get past being a misfit in society.
