Alligator to Zebra: Alphabet Stories

A beginning skill in learning to read is to recite and recognize the letters of the alphabet. Next, one needs to learn the sounds associated with each of the letters. This book, Alligator to Zebra, works on letter sounds. It has wonderfully illustrated short stories, one page per letter. The stories have a number of words that begin with the featured letter. That letter is emphasized by being a different color.
Vowels have more than one sound; thus, the five vowel pages have words with both the short and long sounds. An example of a vowel story follows:

Oscar, an old octopus, lives in the ocean. His only friend is an old otter named Ollie. Oscar and Ollie often play a game called "Over the Waves."
