Jack's Back

Those of you not familiar with F. Paul Wilson do yourself a favor and buy this book. It is a perfect example of what a good writer should be. The story is fast paced, entertaining and engrossing. The characters are very well developed and real. Repairman Jack is one man you won't soon forget. Wilson draws you into Jack's world and shows you how close a man can come to losing everything. This is not a novel you just read, it's a novel you become involved in. I hate to give away the story line so I won't. Suffice it to say that Wilson has a distinct writing style that draws you into a world filled with characters, both real and supernatural, that you hope never cross your path. And others that you wish you only knew. Those of you that are familiar with his work will not be disappointed. It seems that Wilson's writing is as sharp and gripping as ever. Repairman Jack is in top form in this novel and it's great to see the Rakoshi featured again. This is a fun book, a good action story with enough twists and turns and knuckle-whitening scrapes to keep you reading well into the night. Definitely buy this book, buy one for a friend too. Share the joy this holiday season. As an additional recommendation, get your hands on Wilson's earlier works, The Keep, Reborn, Reprisal, Nightworld, The Tomb and The Touch. Those books made me a lifelong fan.

Great Effort

This is another one of my rare 5 star books. This book was pure entertainment from start too finish. Written as a sequel, but reads just great by itself. I love supernatural thrillers and no one can beat F. Paul Wilson in this genre. If you want to read a feel good book where the bad guys always get their due, and in original ways, this book is for you. One great read!Highly recommended.

Repairman Jack is back big time!

Repairman Jack, Wilson's series character, returns to enact his special blend of vengeance and justice. Seems that there is a new drug, called Berzerk, that makes the user's strength and violence soar. The source of this new drug is an old enemy of Jack's past. The holder of this source is the basis for Wilson's edited HWA-sponsored anthology, FREAK SHOW. Wilson's strength is not letting Jack do the same old thing time and again. Jack is evolving and realizing his place in his battle versus the Otherness, the ultimate evil in this world. Jack is asked by 2 people to check out a Bosnian gangster, one a researcher for a pharmaceutical company, the other a regular guy looking for vengeance. Both characters add local color and a unique outside experience of Jack and his methods. Repairman Jack's hijinks to get under the skin of the gangster are the highlights here, as they are in all of the linked books. Wilson's imagination is used full force here....as elaborate as dropping tires and oil onto a houseful of party guests, to something simple like disabling a surveilance car.Wilson's blending -in of his other novels and stories is masterful. You see characters and hints from his previous works to make a complete history. A great novel in a continuing series. This edition also includes, at the end, an interview with Mr. Wilson that is informative. The artwork, by Harry O. Morris, is not the usual sketches but a kind of J.K. Potter meshing of images...very effective. Highly Recommended.

Jack's Back In Grand Style!

I have to agree with Susan's review above and add that I think this is the best Repairman Jack story yet. This limited edition is bound in red leather, signed by the author and Stan Wiater, a fine author in his own right, who wrote the afterword. There is an interesting and enlightening chart at the end of the story detailing how all of Mr. Wilson's stories intertwine around the Grand Unification Theory. Accompanying this fine book is a limited edition chapbook called Demonsong written by Mr. Wilson.Unwillingly thrust into a world of a dangerous designer drug, Jack also finds himself confronting an old enemy from the recent past. Loaded with action, suspense, humor, and Jack's ever present dilemma of delicately maintaining a romantic relationship with a woman who disapproves of his "lifestyle", F. Paul Wilson has once again given us an excellent story loaded with thrills and serpentine plot lines. Rumor has it that there are at least two more Repairman Jack books coming in the near future. Hopefully, this is true. Highly recommended!

All The Rage is a Winner!

I've read all the Repairman Jack stories so far. All The Rage is loads of fun, with lots of action. I highly recommend it. FPW expertly weaves this story into his Grand Unification Theory. Dialogue is funnier than ever and Jack gets himself into more trouble than he's ever been. The scenes involving a helicopter are hilarious. They reveal Jack's twisted (and brilliant) sense of humor. The climax practically gave me a heart attack. But one of my favorite things about this book is that we see the character of Jack developing even more. He literally and figuratively goes BERZERK. It's frightening and fascinating to read that particular plot twist. Makes you wonder...Demonsong, which comes with this special edition, is a terrific short story. Written in a different style, but still very intriguing. Makes me want to see more of Glaeken and Rasalom. Thanks again FPW for a great read! I'm already looking forward to the next one.
