I chose a path that I knew was dangerous, and I walked it with open eyes, tempting fate at every turn. It was a game to me, a test of my luck, and I wanted to see how far I could push it. But now, looking back, I realize that the wisdom I gained was not worth the trauma it caused. The scars it left were deep, and the hardening of my heart was a necessary survival tactic.
