A coming-of-age book outlining a unique story of one young man's journey well into adulthood while serving in the Army for twenty-five years. The author develops the story with a series of vignettes that spans the life of a soldier beginning with his life as a youngster in Baltimore, a "missionary kid" in Colombia and culminating to the present where he retired as a veteran returning to worn-torn Iraq. Filled with emotional and spiritual revelation, the soldier meets his dream girl in the Amazon jungle, marries her, and together raises a family. Later, with two small children, she reluctantly finds herself serving the US interest as well when she agrees to meet with a KGB agent in East Berlin.
