Kids Can Chill With This Intelligently Written Reader

The All Aboard Reading Series is an excellent collection of books for young readers. Starting with picture books and gradually working children up to Station 3, this series allows children to develop into solid readers with sound basic reading skills. This particular book, "Emperor Penguins," is a Station Stop 2 level story. It's under fifty pages long, has short sentences and a relatively basic plot that youngsters can understand. It gives children a brief introduction to the world of penguins and then focuses strictly on the Emperor penguin for the rest of the story. Children will learn how Emperor penguins survive in the wild as well as what makes them unique in the bird world. Kids will also read about the amazing birthing process that these wonderful creatures go through. If you have a child who's beginning to read on their own but still needs help (and encouragement) when reading, give "Emperor Penguins" and all of the All Aboard books a try. I highly recommend them.

I like this book!

Reviewed by Matthew Feliciano (age 7) for Reader Views (12/07) This book was all about penguins. Its main focus was emperor penguins but it named all kids of penguins. It tells interesting facts about emperor penguins. I learned that the largest penguin is the emperor penguin, emperor penguins have 40,000 penguins in a colony, and they slide on their bellies. I really liked this book. It was very easy to read and the illustrations helped me understand what the story meant. I would recommend "Emperor Penguins" to other kids, especially kids who are interested in penguins.
