Imagine two identical worlds, each one gifted to alien brothers as an interactive toy to keep them amused. One brother named Jarlon eventually gets bored with his toy and kills one random person, Sonia Poniecki, in order to track subtle changes between his world and his brother's, hoping to insert an element of competition into the mix. When the differences suddenly multiply beyond all logic, Jarlon discovers that the real cause of the problem is Sonia's new lover, retired lawyer Ron Smith, who emerged from a coma in one world but not the other.
