Alice's Adventures In Wonderland

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a classic children's book written by Lewis Carroll. The story follows a young girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole and finds herself in a strange and surreal world filled with talking animals, peculiar characters, and magical objects. Throughout her adventures, Alice encounters many memorable characters, such as the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts, and participates in a number of absurd and fantastical events, such as a tea party with a dormouse and a trial where the accused is a hedgehog. The book is a playful and whimsical tale, filled with puns, riddles, and wordplay, that is beloved by children and adults alike. It is also notable for its use of logic and mathematics, as well as its commentary on the Victorian society of Carroll's time. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has been adapted into numerous stage productions, films, and other media, cementing its place as a classic of children's literature.

This should not be your first introduction to Alice.

The ISBN 9789357488167 is a 2023 paperback of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland from Double 9 Books, listed at 82 pages and marketed to children, indicating an abridged presentation.-- Double 9 Books (abridged): “Alice saw a White Rabbit carrying a watch. Curious, she went after him and fell into a strange world.”-- Oxford World’s Classics (unabridged Carroll): “There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself, ‘Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late! -- An occasional review will focus on this point. Alice in Wonderland is no more a children's book than "The Lord of the Rings". Occasionally, this and “Through the Looking-Glass” are bundled. If you are lucky, they will include "The Wasp in a Wig," a recently discovered episode Carroll deleted from Through the Looking-Glass, but which fits into the story in interesting ways. The reason this five-star out of 5 stars book gets fewer stars occasionally is not because of its contents or purpose; it is because of either being mistaken for a kid's book, in which case one wonders why it is forced on kids, or it is so dated that even the reader thinks it is g-o-b-b-l-e-d-y-g-o-o-k. The book is filled with references to contemporary items and wordplay of the era. If you fall into either of these categories, then you need to first purchase "The Annotated Alice: The Definitive Edition"; this will clear up this understandable confusion. Be aware that every sentence is a play on words for a jab at the culture of that time. I will not go through the story, as that is why you are buying this book. However, I will say that it is a classic and should be part of everyone's cultural education. When you make it through this book and enjoy it, the next challenge should be "Alice's Abenteuer Im Wunderland,” German Translation. If you are also interested in sci-fi, then you should try to obtain a copy of "Mimsy Were the Borogoves" by Henry Kuttner.
