innocent kids' book

I remember doing a book report on Alice and the Boa Constrictor in the fourth grade. It was a cute book suitable for both males and females, about a fickle little girl who decides one day that she wants a snake and gets one. I hated snakes as a kid and still do, but this is a very charming book.
