Alexey Titarenko: Nomenklatura of Signs

By: Titarenko, Alexey

A fake Soviet era in photomontages inspired by Dada and the Russian avant-garde

From 1986 to 1991, Alexey Titarenko (born 1962) created a series of photomontages inspired by the Russian avant-garde. Presented here in its entirety for the first time, Nomenklatura of Signs captures the uncanny, darkly comic world of Soviet life, translating it into a language of signs and symbols.
