Alexander helps the barn cat: Alexander’s homestead adventures

By Jeremy Scott Phillips

Mellow is missing from his sunny barnyard spot

When Alexander discovers that the family's orange tabby has disappeared, he and Mom follow a trail of tiny pawprints through the barn. They soon find Mellow hiding in the straw with a sore paw-but helping a frightened animal takes patience, gentleness, and plenty of space.

After Mellow receives proper veterinary care, the whole family works together to build him a warm, dry shelter. Dad handles the heavy tools while Alexander gathers clean straw, prepares fresh water, and learns how trust is earned one quiet moment at a time.

With colorful illustrations, gentle storytelling, barn-cat facts, discussion questions, and a seek-and-find activity, Alexander Helps the Barn Cat teaches young readers about animal body language, responsible pet care, safe shelters, and knowing when an animal needs an adult's help.

Perfect for children ages 3-8, young animal lovers, homesteading families, classrooms, and bedtime reading.

Another caring adventure from the Alexander's Homestead Adventures series-where small hands can make a mighty difference.
