Wonderful book for curing fears

My son Alexander loved this book from when he first read it from the library (age 2½), so much so that we bought it and "Alexander and the Magic Boat" when he was 3½. It cured my Alexander of fear of thunder, because the first lines are "Alexander was little, but brave. He was not afraid of thunderstorms or dogs". It did, however bring about a bad stage of "bashing" things because Alexander bashed the dragon with his sword. It is still a very charming story, with Alexander and the dragon apologising to each other, and giving each other compliments: "I never knew that little boys could be so polite". I would highly recommend it to any Alexander, especially one who is scared of the dark. Reading a book with a character who has your name and is this real makes a little boy think it is about him.

This is one of my son's all time favorite books. He's 3 1/2 and we have checked this book out of the library about 15 times in the past year and a half. My daughter (his twin sister) also loves the story of how Alexander befriends the dragon he was once so scared of. It's exciting and the illustrations are wonderful. A must have for any child's library!
