Alex builds a garden: Alexander's homestead adventures

By Jeremy Scott Phillips

A sunny patch. A handful of seeds. One big dream

Alexander is ready to grow his very first vegetable garden-and Mom is there to guide him every step of the way.

Together, they choose a sunny spot, prepare the soil, count and plant their seeds, and water each row with care. But gardens do not grow overnight. Alexander must learn to be patient, recognize weeds, protect thirsty plants, and discover which tiny garden visitors are helpful.

When flowers finally become vegetables, Alexander learns that sunshine, water, healthy soil, hard work, and time can turn the smallest seed into something wonderful.

Filled with colorful illustrations, gentle humor, and fascinating garden discoveries, Alexander Builds a Garden introduces young readers to:

- How seeds sprout and grow
- Preparing soil and using compost
- Planting, spacing, and watering seeds
- Identifying weeds and caring for plants
- Bees, ladybugs, and other garden helpers
- Mulching and conserving water
- Harvesting fresh vegetables
- Patience, responsibility, and family teamwork

A warm and educational picture book for children ages 3-7, young gardeners, nature lovers, homesteading families, and every little helper who loves getting their hands in the soil.

Part of Alexander's Homestead Adventures-where every chore teaches something, every season brings discovery, and little hands can help wonderful things grow.
