Alec in Wonkiland and other tales

This is a collection of short stories. The first story describes the life in Moscow of a young scientific enthusiast of the Soviet period, and the second that of one of the author's grandmothers in England and Australia, imagined where necessary. The remaining six stories loosely describe episodes in the life of Alec, an Australian intellectual type working in Toronto: his marriage breakup, mother's death, affairs and their effect on others, relations with daughter, including an attempt to avenge mistreatment of her, and, finally and fantastically, somewhat in the manner of {\it Alice in Wonderland}, his sojourn in Purgatory. (This final tale was earlier published on Amazon separately under the same title, namely "Alec in Wonkiland.")
