Alberto was a famous racing driver from Italy. He was born in Milan on July 13, 1918. His father, Antonio, was also a well-known racer who sadly died in a crash during a race when Alberto was just a child. Even though it was dangerous, Alberto wanted to follow his father's path. He started racing motorcycles, then moved on to cars. He quickly became known for being calm, focused, and very skilled behind the wheel. After the Second World War, he returned to racing and joined a strong Italian team with his close friend and mentor. In the early 1950s, he became one of the top drivers in the world. He won many races and became the world champion two years in a row. Alberto was known for his smooth driving style and careful planning. He liked to wear the same clothes for each race and was a little superstitious. In the mid-1950s, he joined a new team with hopes of building a better car, but things didn't go as planned. The car had problems, and he didn't race as much. In May 1955, just days after a scary crash in another race, he visited a test session to watch a friend. He decided to drive a few laps, even though he wasn't fully prepared. On his third lap, he lost control of the car and died in a crash. He was only 36 years old. Strangely, his death had many similarities to his father's--same age, same date of the month, and even the same number of race wins. Alberto Ascari is still remembered as one of the best drivers of the early racing days. He was smart, fast, and respected by everyone on and off the track.
