This thesis examines the expectations that employees aged 50 and over have regarding productive ageing, and the measures a company must take to retain older employees for longer. Flughafen Wien AG, a major and representative company in eastern Austria with a total of 4,399 employees, serves as a case study. The company already implements health-promoting measures and partial retirement schemes, but has not yet developed an overarching strategy on the topic of productive ageing. As part of an empirical study, employees aged 50 and over were surveyed for this thesis regarding their expectations. The theoretical framework is based on Antonovsky's salutogenesis model. In contrast to pathogenesis, the salutogenesis model does not describe the factors that cause illness, but rather what keeps people healthy despite the influence of a wide variety of stressors. The result is the concept of a sense of coherence, with its three components: comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness.
