Charlie needs Lauren's help to get out of the conventional box that high school has put her in. Lauren is the newest soccer player on the squad that her dad leads. Except for Charlie, girls swoon at Lauren's feet. She landed on his lap. Technically, she missed and fell over because she was intoxicated. Both of them are exactly what the other needs, even though he wants her to go and she wants him to grin. Lauren desires Charlie's wild and independent view on life, but he lacks the detached demeanor she needs to challenge the existing quo. They all share the desire to be free from whatever is preventing them from achieving their aims. There can only be a lot of youthful energy when a gloomy soccer player and a cheerful cheerleader are paired together.
