"Aiming High" is the story of James Ramsey - a boy who grew up in the midst of the Great Depression, ran home from a movie on Dec. 7 after hearing Pearl Harbor had been attacked, and ultimately celebrated VE Day in his small town in Iowa.After high school, and scoring the winning touchdown in his homecoming football game, he attended the University of Wisconsin, and spent two diverse summers fighting fires in Yosemite National Park and as a fledgling reporter for the City News Bureau of Chicago. Joining the Air Force after graduation, he learned to fly jet fighters and defended American cities from atomic attack during the Cold War.James' experiences in the military are related in his autobiographical account, "The Buried Dot." The story of his later life is related in his final volume, "And That's the Way It Is."
