Before Gaza became a headline, Rahaf, Tala, and Qasim were children singing at the sea.

On Friday, October 6, 2023, Aida takes her children to the shore because Sunday belonged to school and she needed Saturday to prepare. Rahaf draws. Tala plans to become first in Palestine. Qasim turns every street into a football field. Baby Reem sleeps against her mother's chest. By morning, the timetable on Aida's table belongs to another life.

As Israeli bombardment tears through Gaza, the family is separated. Aida is forced south with Reem while her three older children remain in the north. When an Israeli attack kills Rahaf, Tala, and Qasim, grief does not stop the demands of survival: water must be found, formula measured, wounds cleaned, papers protected, and a baby carried through shelters, tents, hunger, rain, return, and displacement again.
