AI Governance Worked Scenarios: 24 worked situations under the EU AI Act, decided against the Articles

A recruitment tool bought from a vendor. A chatbot that turns out to be a general-purpose model. A serious incident, and the clock that starts with it.

AI Governance Worked Scenarios puts you inside 24 situations under the EU AI Act and works each one through to a decision, with the Articles that decide it named and the reasoning shown, so you can disagree in a particular place rather than in general. Every situation carries at least one fact that decides the answer and at least one that turns out not to matter, because telling them apart is most of the job.

What's inside these EU AI Act case studies24 worked situations, each decided against the ArticlesThe questions actually facing the person in each one, so you decide before you read the workingAt least one fact that decides the answer, and at least one that turns out not to matterSituations that run from a vendor purchase to a market surveillance visitScenarios on registration, conformity assessment and technical documentationA plain flag wherever the Regulation does not answer the questionWho this book is for

Compliance officers, AI governance leads and legal teams who have to decide what an AI system means under the EU AI Act and defend that call later, including providers outside the EU whose systems reach the European Union market.

Questions readers askWhich AI governance scenarios does it cover?

Prohibited practices, high-risk classification, risk management, training data, human oversight, serious incidents, transparency, general-purpose models, conformity assessment, registration, sandboxes, market surveillance and penalties. Every one is decided against the Articles.

Does it cover AI Act provider and deployer duties?

Yes. One scenario buys a high-risk system and becomes its provider. Another works through a deployer's fundamental rights impact assessment.

What about prohibited AI practices?

Scenario 3 deals with a prohibited practice found in a live product.

Are these AI governance case studies real?

No. Every organization in them is hypothetical. The law they are decided against is real: Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 as amended by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744.

Is it current for EU AI Act compliance after the Omnibus?

Yes. The Omnibus, in force since 27 July 2026, moved the high-risk rules to 2 December 2027 for Annex III systems and 2 August 2028 for Annex I systems, and the scenarios follow it.

Does it cover general-purpose AI models?

Yes. One scenario is a chatbot that turns out to be a general-purpose model, and another is a general-purpose model with systemic risk.

Does it cover penalties?

Yes. Scenario 23 works through penalties, and how the ceiling is actually calculated.

Does the EU AI Act apply to UK companies?

It can. Scenario 1 buys a recruitment tool from a vendor established outside the Union. Scenario 13 works through Article 54(1), which requires a general-purpose model provider established in a third country to appoint an authorized representative in the Union.

How should I use it?

Read the situation and stop. Write down what you would do and which Article you would rely on. Then read the working.

Do I need the main book too?

This is the companion to AI Governance Framework, which works through the Regulation article by article.
