Agostino Nifo, Le Livre de la Solitude / de Solitudine Liber [French]

By Agostino Nifo

English summary: This book provides a French translation of Agostino Nifo's De Solitudine Liber. Through ancient, medieval, and contemporary developments in the involvement of the orator in the city, the asceticism of the Christian contemplative, and the bucolic withdrawal of the poet, Nifo looks at solitude as a site of philosophical reflection and thus develops a new intellectual figure, the solitarius ciuilis.
