I have read a few self-help books. I have also purchased many books to help elevate my walk in Jesus to be more forgiving, have more peace, or even experience deliverance. I believe the process of changing the way you treat others will open floodgates from heaven in your life for deliverance, favor, wisdom, and so much more. Take in each chapter over a few days to give yourself time to apply the principles. A week per chapter is a good guide. This book won't fix all your problems, nor is it a replacement for the Bible, as a matter of fact, you should read your Bible more as a result of this book.
