Product Description

High-flying London PR executive Agatha Raisin (Ashley Jensen, Extras, Ugly Betty) fulfills a lifelong dream of retiring to a small village in the Cotswolds. Desperate to fit in, she enters the local quiche-baking competition, only to find herself a suspect when her entry kills the judge. To save her reputation, Agatha sets out to solve the murder, with the help of her former assistant, Roy (Mathew Horne, Gavin & Stacey); eager Detective Constable Bill Wong (Matt McCooey, Invizimals); and her cleaner, Gemma (Katy Wix, Torchwood). Along the way, Agatha discovers that she has a talent for crime solving, even if it means her new life in the country is not the quiet idyll she had imagined. Based on the bestselling novels by M.C. Beaton, these delightful mysteries shine with humor and intrigue. Jamie Glover (Waterloo Road) also stars, with Hermione Norris (Cold Feet) and Robert Bathurst (Downton Abbey) appearing in the feature-length pilot episode, The Quiche of Death.

Hope you read the book first.

This production tries to be too campy. It makes you wish that all the characters would be dispatched. The stories follow the books somewhat, but the characters are too ridiculous for words. The first series (Pilot) is the same as the first book, “The Quiche of Death.” Then episode 1: Walkers of Dembley. Based on the novel by M. C. Beaton. Episode 2: Hell’s Bells I could give a heads up on the stories, however, you should watch them unfold. If you have read the books, then try not to anticipate your favorite parts or scenes. We get great expressions, such as “Bob’s your uncle.” It may also help a bit to watch the bonus features, which help tell what they are trying to accomplish. They purposely exaggerated the characters and had to change things to be more TV-like than in the book. I had to use the subtitles as either they are slurring or mumbling; Oh, that is the other English.
