Entertaining, informative, and engrossing

I found this book to be excellent in its descriptions of life and times in the aristocratic circles of the Comneni. I believe that the the writer shows a keen grasp of life and customs. I relished being treated to an entertaining and engrossing book about what today would pass as an obscure dynasty in a far away time and place. Recommend it highly for any interested in Byzantine culture and history
