A Must Read Book!

This book has made me understand how hard life can be, I am only 18 and it is a lot that I haven't been through but this book has guided me and provided me with experiences without actually having to experience it first-hand. The book is recommended by me for everyone. Everyone will receive something meaningful from the book even if you don't get the same effect I got from it. It is garaunteed to have a great effect upon your life.

What a Fantastic Book!

I read this book a couple of months ago. It had me crying,laughing, smiling, thinking and reflecting on my own life as a woman and an African-American.This book summarizes the experiences of a country girl who moved to the big city, young, with a new baby without a father or family support and not only survived, but went own to establish a family, become a Queen Mother and develop a successful entrepenurial career! What a fasinating story-

Great book for discussions

Everyone who reads this book will see some of their own life's experience in the book. It is truly a book about struggle and victory. It tells the truth and gives inspiration to those who may be in the "valley" of life. It is great reading for young people too. I used this book in an intergenerational discussion group. The group spanned 4 generations, including mothers, daughters and grandmothers. Some of the mothers and daughters had never had this kind of in-dept conversation. Everyone was able to relate and learn. I purchased six books for women in my family. They are now passing it on to other family members. My husband read the book within 24 hours. He couldn't put it down.
