After Work the Pictures is a continuation of Junior Technician Weaver's adventures in the Royal Air Force as previously related in Per Ardua Ad Ulcers. After four memorable year's service in the UK he is posted to a radar unit in the North of Germany. However, he finds himself billeted on a flying station and once more in the "proper air force". Here he manages once again to fall foul of military authority. His search for true love continues on the continent but without much success. Tragedy again befalls him with the loss of a good friend, but the humour that persisted in the previous book is present throughout the sequel.
