I truly would like to give this young author his props on a well written novel.
Playa Players

After the games are played is a quick, humorous and entertaining read. Sometimes the story switched so quickly I got lost. The author, Gerald K. Malcom, shows us the male perspective of what's left after the games are played. The main character Jordan Styles, is a good guy with a conscience who has all the right moves and words, but his actions and what comes out of his mouth is a total disaster. After a divorce from his wife named Serene who is nothing near serenity, he meets Traci who gives him a run for his money. Between running back and forth with Serene, Jordan is confident in what he doesn't want, and he can't see for looking for what he does want. When he finally opens his eyes and confronts Traci will she turn the tables on him, giving him what men have done to woman in similar situations, or will she open her arms and welcome his love?Jordan tries to be true to the game and give his heart to Traci. Unfortunately he has to give up one of the two. This book was a fast read and I look forward to its sequel.Missy APOOO Bookclub.

I want more! This was one of the most honest potrayals of men I've read in years. I can share thisbook with my man because I know that he will relate to Jordan and his trials and tribulations. Can't wait for the next book!
An Excellent Debut by a Promising Author

Ever wanted to know what a man really thinks about when he's trying to get with a lady? If you do, the I suggest picking up After the Games Are Played. Gerald K. Malcom offers an honest look inside the mind of a man who finds that after being out of the "game" for years, he can still roll with the best of them.Malcom doesn't over-emphasize certain situations nor does he bog the reader down with "filler". Rather, the flow of this book causes one to finish it quickly. And I also liked the way the wrote the female characters. These women were not mere stereotypes of black women (ie. the Chickenhead, the Ghetto Girl, the hands-on-her hips sassy one who takes no mess). Rather the women are as true to life as possible. Serene may be crazy and vindictive, but her hystrionics over losing her husband are real and not the stuff American Soap Operas are made of. Traci is a strong character, but her flaw is her indecisiveness and her inability to express her true feelings which are flaws shared by many people. However, I must admit that i was disappointed with the ending. I wanted to know more about the realationship ups and downs of Tracy and Jordan. Will they stay together and build a strong relationship? Or will other outside forces (i.e. Serene, Monica or a man from Traci's past) break them apart. I really hope that there is a sequel.

I loved this book! Both men and women can relate to this story. This book really kept my interest. It gives women some insight as to what men think about women and relationships, and at the same time answers some questions as to why men play the games they do. Jordan shows us that men are also vunerable when it comes to "LOVE" not only women. I liked Traci alot she represented a Strong Black Woman. She didn't give into the drama that was involving Jordan, and although she was interested in Jordan, she did not wear her heart on her sleeve. She gave him time to get his issues in order. This book is a true representaion of what women and men in Jordan's age group are going through, especially when your getting back in the "game" after being out of it for a long time.
