Outstanding plotting and characterization

I do not usually read this type of mystery, but this was recommended by a friend. Turned out to be an excellent recommendation. The plot moves at a fast but realistic pace, and the main character and her suporting group deal with the matters at hand in realistic but exciting ways. The conflict of corporate good and bad is played well, and is very timely. Chance encounters are a device often used in plots such as this, but here they are infrequently but very effectively used. The book maintains the reader's interest, always leaving a hook for the following chapter. Overall, there is a lot of bang for the buck in After Shocks.

After Shocks is Pleasant Surprise

AFTERSHOCKS is a delight to read. Characters are well developed, the author plays fair with the reader, and suspense is maintained. I look forward to Kirkpatrick's next book. Paul Hain
