Black African writers used to produce works according to the canons of Western literature. But the emergence of N gritude in the African literary world turned everything upside down. Indeed, as part of the recognition and revival of Black African culture, African writers now draw upon their mother tongues. Thus, in their works, we find words and expressions from their mother tongues that blend beautifully into works written in French. Jean-Marie ADIAFFI's *La Carte d'identit * is a perfect illustration of this fusion between the French language and their mother tongues.
