African grandparents were socially tasked with teaching and moulding children about society as they grew and interacted with others while playing. Those that were not being taught at home would in turn learn from those that were. Indeed, the need to present these stories using animals that could 'talk' also taught the children the characteristics of the animals simultaneously and to give them the respect accorded to them by nature.
